This music is from Volodymyr Mykhaylovych Ivasyuk. He was a very popular Ukrainian composer and poet. In 1971, his "Chervona Ruta", performed live in Moscow with fellow Chervona Ruta, co-stars Vasyl Zinkevych and Nazary Yaremchuk, won the Best Song of the Year award of the Soviet Union (the movie shows this performance). In 1979, he was found hanged in a forest. The official cause of death is listed as suicide but it is assumed that he was murdered by the Russian KGB.
